Ski the Tetons: The Powerful, New Jackson Hole Tram

The snow-capped peaks around Grand Teton National Park offer some of the best skiing anywhere. Indeed, Jackson Hole averages 400 inches of snow a year, and the ski season lasts through early April. At the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, you'll find 1,000 hectares of terrain and a vertical drop of more than 4,100 feet. When the original tram opened in 1966, it became legendary for its 4,000-foot ascent. It closed for repairs in 2006, and now the new Jackson Hole Tram, which debuted in December, boasts the longest continual vertical rise of any ski-lift in North America. 4,139 feet in nine minutes.
