Miami’s Lap of Luxury: Swank New Properties like The Fontainebleau November 10, 2008| By:Mary Winston Nicklin The Washington Post Travel shines the spotlight on Miami's glittering new cast of luxury properties (and notes that they were all planned "long before the economic crunch"). Miami continues to strut its stuff, paying homage to excess and conspicuous consumption, with properties like the renovated Fontainebleau, where the Rat Pack and James Bond flocked back in the day. When it officially reopens on Friday, the hotel will show off its "oversize tubs with jets; a 40,000-square-foot spa where guests can get rained on, misted, or steamed; a restaurant by Alfred Portale." The Post also gives a shout out to Eden Roc, another icon of 50s elegance, The Betsy, Canyon Ranch Miami Beach, and the Mondrian South Beach.
