Culinary Travel: Hit the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco with the Hotel Vitale’s Chef

May 19, 2010| By:Mary Winston Nicklin

Hotel Vitale, San FranciscoOf all the hotel offers we see, this has got to rank as one of the coolest. The hip Hotel Vitale-- boasting roof-top soaking tubs with panoramic views of the San Francisco waterfront-- is catering to foodies interested in exploring the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market with a professional chef. Just a stone's throw from the hotel on the Embarcadero, the world-famous market is a mecca for culinary enthusiasts. Interested guests can be accompanied to the Saturday market by the hotel's head chef, Kory Stewart, who helms Americano, which "celebrates the essence of Italian farm-to-table cooking." On the market excursion, Stewart will advise guests about the various products, then help them prepare a two-course meal with the fresh ingredients. (Price is therefore dependent on the products chosen, starting from $250 per couple.) As highlighted by the San Jose Mercury News, this offer will not be promoted on the hotel's website. Instead, guests must request it when booking their room, at least two weeks in advance.
