Buzz in Manhattan: The New Rooftop Pool at Gansevoort Park Avenue

May 24, 2010| By:Mary Winston Nicklin

Gansevoort Park Avenue, rooftop poolWe're hearing reports that the rooftop pool at the new Gansevoort Park Avenue will be the place to be this summer. (If the rooftop scene at the original Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District is any indicator, Manhattanites should be counting down the days til the new hotel's opening on July 19.) Besides unbelievable panoramas of the Empire State Building and the city skyline, the tri-level rooftop will feature "over a dozen rooftop watering holes, wrap-around terraces, event spaces, transparent floors, and fireplaces." Best of all: Plunge Bar + Lounge boasting a 40-foot indoor-outdoor swimming pool enclosed in glass. Though the menu at The One Group is a close second. You'll find a delightful snack menu with things like lobster rolls and kobe pigs in a blanket. The pool will only be open to guests during the day. (Evenings are a different story.)
