It’s Cherry Blossom Time in Washington, DC

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is approaching full bloom here in Washington, DC, and we simply cannot wait for all of the events and activities in store. In 1912, 3,000 cherry blossom trees were given as gifts to Washington, DC from Tokyo, Japan. A century later, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is gearing up for its upcoming festivities, celebrating international companionship and the beauty of nature. This is the 100th anniversary of the cherry blossoms, and the District of Columbia is certainly going all out with its events. Celebrate 31 years of family fun at this year’s SnowFest, which will take place March 2 – 11, 2012 in North Lake Tahoe. Every spring, North Lake Tahoe tourists and locals come together and take part in various activities and events perfect for folks of all ages. This year, SnowFest will be bringing back the annual favorites along with exciting, new events. The majority of events are free to spectators, and SnowFest draws in thousands of visitors every year. A few events that are brand new this year include a snow art building competition, an ice sculpting competition, and a pub crawl starting in Incline Village and ending in Crystal Bay.

The Hotel Monteleone, a landmark since 1886 and the largest full-service hotel in the area, gets serious props for decking the halls in such a big way every year. The hotel will start hosting local school choirs in its lobby for 30-minute performances every weekday starting Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 16.
