Following a multimillion-dollar reimagination in the fall of 2017, the Ventana Big Sur, an Alila Resort reopened. The intimate 59-room luxury resort invites guests to discover the unbridled spirit and verdant landscape of Big Sur.
The revitalized guest rooms, suites, and villas are nestled amidst 160 acres of meadows and redwoods, with private balconies offering mountain or ocean views. Furnished with the resort's signature rustic design, accommodations incorporate the surrounding topography with furnishings rooted in rich leathers and woods, handcrafted accessories, black-and-white photographs from around the area, and whimsical glass-jar nightstand lams with beach sand and leather tassels. Plus, there are luxury soaking tubs, fireplaces, and accessories to encourage guests to explore the outdoors such as walking sticks, binoculars, and lanterns.
Drawing inspiration from around the country, the Sur House restaurant, led by Executive Chef Paul Corsentino, offers coastal cuisine incorporating Pacific-sourced seafood delivered by local fishermen, free-range meats, produce and accoutrements from sustainable and local sources. Featuring an elegant, yet rustic setting with natural wood interiors and an ocean-view patio, there's a 10,000-bottle cellar with small-production Central Coast wines, crafted cocktails, and a curated selection of beer.
Providing treatments designed to relax and nurture, Spa Alila offers a sensory experience that incorporate nature's healing gifts, the spa's Asian roots, relaxation decks, and aromatherapy steam showers. During the renovation, two outdoor cabanas overlooking the redwoods were added, each with soaking tubs and massage tables for couples.
The reimagined Social House is the property's epicenter of guest activity with coffee and fresh-pressed juices in the mornings, evening wine and cheese receptions, as well as board games, pool tables, and a collection of vintage records. There's also the new Glass House Gallery that showcases the paintings, sculptures, and works of art by renowned artists from the California's Central Coast.
For recreation, there are two outdoor pools—the infinity-edge, jetted hot tub Meadow Pool , as well as the clothing-optional Mountain Pool, with adjacent Japanese hot baths. As well as a new signature guest activities program with mind, body, and soul experiences such as drum circles, charcoal drawing in nature, photography hikes, and Neuroacoustics Meditation. Plus a fitness center with professional-level equipment.
Please note: This resort welcomes guests age 18 years of age and older.
