June 21, 2019| By:Rachael Weir, Five Star Alliance

On July 20, 1969, Apollo Astronauts landed on the moon. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Missions, including the moon landing, the Smithsonian's National Air and Spa Museum is having a special celebration. The "Discover the Moon" Day will be held at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. on Friday, July 19.* In complement with the museum's extensive collection and expertise, guests will be able to interact one-on-one with museum scientists to learn about lunar exploration, research, and missions, view the moon in 3-D, and see high-resolution images from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. This special event is designed to spark interest and a national conversation about the past, present, and future of exploration and innovation.
