Aspen

Located 170 miles west of Denver, Aspen is known for celebrity sightings and posh ski resorts. There are four ski mountains in Aspen, providing an array of options from beginners to mountain experts. Beginners will want to learn at Buttermilk Mountain with easy-to-navigate slopes. Telluride

Originally a mining town incorporated as Columbia in 1878, Telluride has made a massive transformation since opening its first ski runs in 1972. Located about 200 miles southwest of Aspen, Telluride mixes funky with chic, and is a popular year-round destination for mountain bikers, skiers, anglers, and hikers. The town was designated a National Historic District in 1964, and today the resort area is booming for skiing during the winter, and festivals during the summer months.
