The Chatwal New York is designed in a 1930s Empire Art Deco style. Based on its swanky looks alone, one almost expects Fred Astaire to waltz through the door. Fred has unfortunately shuffled off this mortal coil, but he did indeed hang out at the hotel when he was alive. Why? Located on 44th Street, in the heart of the theater district, the building was originally host to the famous Lamb’s club, America’s first professional theater club. Other legendary members of the club include Spencer Tracey, Milton Berle, Charlie Chaplin, Irving Berlin, and Will Rogers.
