Did You Know? The Beverly Hills Hotel

The Beverly Hills Hotel

Legendary billionaire heir, Hollywood producer, and recluse Howard Hughes spent a good chunk of his life in a bungalow at The Beverly Hills Hotel.  Hughes famously became a recluse after an aviation accident that nearly killed him. In 1947, he spent four months in his private screening room, where he subsisted on a diet of chocolate, chicken, and milk. After he emerged, Hughes took up residence in Bungalow 4 at the legendary Pink Palace. He allegedly left his Cadillac outside and unused for so long that the tires went flat and plants began to grow in the car's interior. His wife and key staff members also took up residence in the hotel, albeit in different rooms.

Hughes spent time living in other luxury hotels. In the early 1940s, he lived in the Sunset Tower Hotel. Hughes and his entourage occupied the entire top floor and the 14th floor as well. He also spent time at Eden Rock Hotel on St. Barth's. The luxury resort has a suite named after him. The Howard Hughes loft is situated on top of the iconic main house, and has three terraces and a stunning 360° view of the bay. The suite also has a King size bed, kitchenette, dining area, spacious living area, and 2 copper clad bathrooms.
