Excellent accommodation. Fantastic service. Great location.

Set on 6,000 acres near Matauri Bay, Northland, The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs affords spectacular 180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean. Cape Brett and the offshore Cavalli Islands are part of the panorama which can be viewed from the verandas, lounge, card and dining rooms.

The main lodge, which overlooks the golf course and the Pacific Ocean, consists of a spacious beamed living room, meeting room, card room, and small computer room. Gourmet a la carte dining is available in the main dining room or on the verandas.

Kauri Cliffs was designed and built by David Harman of Golf Course Consultants, Orlando, Florida. The par 72 championship golf course measures 7,119 yards / 6,510 metres and offers five sets of tees to challenge every skill level. Fifteen holes view the Pacific Ocean, six of which are played alongside cliffs which plunge to the sea. The beautiful inland holes wind through marsh, forest and farmland.

Amenities at Kauri Cliffs include two Astro turf tennis courts, an infinity swimming pool with spa and a fully equipped fitness centre. Kauri Cliffs has three secluded swimming beaches, which are also available for picnics and barbeques.

The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs has a two night minimum stay requirement during high season (November-March).

Location Summary
Guests can enjoy Kauri Cliff's beautiful property and also experience a variety of nearby activities including world famous game fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, sea kayaking, and hunting for boar. Guided tours feature visits to the Ninety Mile Beach, Tane Mahuta, Doubtless Bay, the Puketi Kauri Forest, Rainbow Falls, historic Russell and the Waitangi Treaty House.

Directions to Hotel
The hotel is approximately 25 minutes from Kerikeri Airport. Turn left at the airport exit/ entrance. Turn left onto State Highway 10 at the roundabout. Stay on Highway 10 approximately 15 minutes. Turn right onto Matauri Bay Road Follow Matauri Bay Road until you see the sign for "Kauri Cliffs." Turn right onto Tepene Tablelands Road which leads to the lodge.

The hotel is Approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes from Auckland or 292 kms. Take State Highway 1 from Auckland to Whangarei (2 hours / 180 kms). Stay on Highway 1 past Whangarei to Kawakawa (approximately 50 minutes / 53.5 kms). Pass through Kawakawa, staying on Highway 1 until you reach the Kerikeri turnoff (State Highway 10) at Pakaraka junction (12 minutes / 13.3 kms). Turn right onto State Highway 10 towards and past Kerikeri until you reach the Matauri Bay turn off on your right (26 minutes / 33.1 kms). Turn right onto Matauri Bay Road. Follow Matauri Bay Road until you see the sign for "Kauri Cliffs" (12 minutes / 12.3 kms). Turn right onto Tepene Tablelands Road which leads to the lodge.
Fitness Center
The fitness center has comfortable mens and ladies locker rooms, sauna, jacuzzi spa pool and 100 foot heated indoor lap pool. There is also a state-of-the-art fitness centre with a full spectrum of exercise equipment and free weights.

Pool Outdoor
The swimming pool is located between the lodge and first guest suite. The pool and hot tub are open from 7 am to 9 pm daily. During the cooler months, the pool is covered. Should you wish to use the pool or hot tub please call reception and they will remove the cover.
Spa Facility
The spa is nestled at the edge of a Totara forest and overlooks a verdant fern glen and winding stream. Each Treatment room is equipped with a shower and changing area, has floor to ceiling views and opens into a private outdoor space where guests can enjoy garden inspired treatments al fresco and fireside. Choose from a variety of treatments, including different styles of massages, foot reflexology, facials, pedicures and manicures as well as hair care.
Tennis Courts On Site
Two astro turf courts are situated at the end of the pathway behind the guest suites. Rackets and tennis balls are available at reception.
Biking, Mountain
Men's, ladies' and children's mountain bikes are available for guest use.
Skeet Shooting
Kauri Cliffs stunning topography is perfect for clay pigeon shooting.
Ecological Tourism
We have some beautiful walks on our 6000-acre property ranging from a 10-minute bush walk, which takes in the magnificent Kauri Tree (700-900 years old) to a two-hour walk that includes a visit to the waterfall, Waiaua Bay or Little Takou Beach. Guided bird watching is also available.
Fishing - Ocean
A local guide will take you to one of the beaches on the property. You may well hook snapper or kahawai (similar to a blue fish). Bring your catch back to the lodge and the chef will prepare it for your dinner.
Golf Driving Range
The golf complex includes a world-class practice range, putting and chipping greens, a well stocked golf shop, and ladies and mens locker rooms. Premium ladies and mens rental clubs are available.
Golfing
In 2008 and 2009 Cape Kidnappers and Kauri Cliffs hosted the Kiwi Challenge, our PGA TOUR Challenge event featuring four of the top PGA TOUR players under the age of 30.
Hunting
Wild Boar and possum hunting are both available.
