Riggs Washington DC is located in the historic former Riggs National Bank building on the corner of 9th and F Street. Paying homage to the building’s legacy, each of the 181 guest rooms and suites is reminiscent of a private safety deposit box, while serendipitous details throughout the hotel draw on a narrative inspired by the golden age of banking. The heart and soul of the hotel is Café Riggs – a modern, all-occasion restaurant in the tradition of the grand brasseries of Europe – as well as a lower level bar housed in the original bank vault from the internationally-acclaimed Mr Lyan team.

Each and every room at Riggs Washington DC offers something personal and unexpected, designed to evoke the thrill of opening a safety-deposit box—a playful nod to the building’s history as an iconic bank. All 181 guest rooms and suites feature views of the vibrant Penn Quarter and are outfitted with bath amenities from fragrance house D.S. & Durga in its signature Debaser scent, bespoke wallpaper and headboards in collaboration with design studio Voutsa, and Italian Carrara marble bathrooms.

Inspired by the bustling brasseries of Europe, Café Riggs offers traditional grace through a reimagined lens to bring a modern restaurant to D.C. Nestled on the hotel’s ground floor, the restaurant serves an all-day menu from the bar, dining room and externally on the Patio & Garden Terrace offering a menu of classics and innovative originals in a stately setting.

Silver Lyan – nestled in our bank building’s former vault – is the first bar outside of Europe from Mr Lyan. Travelling the world, he sources the weird and wonderful, using bespoke techniques and experimenting with ingredients to develop new ways to capture flavor. Silver Lyan draws its inspiration from D.C.’s incredible depth of culture, food, drink, people and history to offer a bar that celebrates the notion of exchange – as well as a damn good time.
