Excellent romantic hotel. Great location.
Recognized for artful conception and luxury, The Roseate Reading was originally built as the Shire Hall for the Berkshire County Council in 1911. Transformed into an elegant hotel, the property has wide hallways, vaulted ceilings, cornice moldings, and the original lift shaft that has been lovingly restored. The lift shaft runs the full height of the building, and is the setting for the hotel's stunning Italian chandelier with 86,000 glass beads from top to bottom.
Each of the hotel's 55 luxury guest rooms is an idyllic mixture of art, lighting, sound, and comfort. Custom made furniture, work desks, and Nespresso machines furnish each of the rooms, as well as en-suite bathrooms with Molton Brown amenities.
For dining, Cerise Restaurant showcases seasonal British produce with frequently changing menus. There's also an extensive crafted cocktail list and all day bar meals, as well as traditional afternoon tea with a selection of breads and scones from the hotel's own bakery.
The on site theater hosts social events and film club gatherings, and the Secret Garden has a waterfall feature, pomegranate tree, and unique space to unwind in the heart of the city.
Guests seeking to relax can visit the recently unveiled Aheli Spa with a range of signature services including body rituals, scrubs, wraps, and facials.
