Mauna Lani
Set along the Kona Coast upon sacred land marked by royal fish ponds and natural lava plains, Mauna Lani, an Auberge Resort is a luxury beachfront property. Following a resort-wide re-imagination and renovation, the reincarnated resort is a hidden oasis offering guests a place to rejuvenate and nourish their spirit, while discovering the meaning of 'ohana—the Hawaiian word for family.

Mauna Lani means "mountain reaching heaven", the all-new luxury lifestyle resort debuted on the island of Hawaii with a distinct sense of place deeply rooted in cultural traditions. Nowhere in the Hawaiian archipelago is the land more powerful, sacred or alive than this storied and natural place of wonder. Here, guests can partake in transformational experiences, enriching cultural immersions, unrivaled amenities, and curated moments.

The resort offers contemporary guest rooms and suites, along with five private bungalow residences. Featuring organic sensibilities, accommodations have furnished lanai balconies with mountain or ocean views, and understated furnishings with ample hardwood, natural fabrics, and textures that embody the essence of Hawaii.

For dining, there are five exclusive restaurants and lounges, including CanoeHouse providing a one-of-a-kind beachfront island-style dining experience. Celebrating the islands connecting between land and sea, the contemporary restaurant has indoor-outdoor seating and unparalleled ocean views. HaLani is an open-air restaurant serving Mediterranean dishes complemented by locally-sourced ingredients, and the Surf Shack is a toes-in-the-sand eatery by the beach.

Offering curated activities through the KAINALU active pursuits and the Living Culture programs, guests can experience an authentic sense of Hawaii. There are three distinct pools including a family pool, a signature spa and wellness haven, and a variety of ocean pursuits including outrigger canoeing, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, and snorkeling off the resort’s main beach in Makaiwa Bay.

LIVING CULTURE

Step inside Hale ‘I‘ike, the House of Knowledge, and immerse yourself in Hawaii's extraordinary indigenous living culture. This welcoming place is part museum, part cherished uncle's living room—a showcase of Hawaiian art and history through the eras of kings, cowboys, and celestial navigators. Come here to “talk story” with Danny Akaka, the resort's Kahu Hānai and browse the mesmerizing collection of artifacts. If the resplendent portraits of Hawaiian royals don’t spark your imagination, the octopus fishing lures and shark tooth weapons surely will.

TWILIGHT AT KALĀHUIPUA‘A

Each month during the full moon, music lovers bring blankets and folding chairs to the oceanfront lawn at the Eva Parker Woods Cottage. ‘Ukulele and guitar players gather on the lanai (porch) to talk story and play their favorite tunes. The stage is humble but the talent is world-class. For over two decades, the Twilight at Kalāhuipua‘a concert series has served as a Who’s Who of Hawaiian music. The evening’s performers—kept secret until they take the stage—have included ‘ukulele superstar Jake Shimabukuru, falsetto songbird Aunty Genoa Keawa, and master slack key guitarist Cyril Pahinui. One night the legendary Don Ho happened to stroll by and volunteered to play an impromptu set. Often, the unknown talents offer the most poignant performances: a trio of Parker Ranch cowboys crooning about the joys and heartbreaks on the range or a local lei maker inspired to dance a spontaneous hula. Steeped in genuine aloha, this intimate kanikapila (jam session) is not to be missed.
