Hot New Hotels in Hong Kong: Ritz-Carlton, Hullet House, W Hotel

December 21, 2009| By:Mary Winston Nicklin

W Hotel Hong Kong

When the new Ritz-Carlton Hotel opens in Hong Kong in 2010, it promises to be a stunner, located on the top floors (102-118) of the International Commerce Centre. This lofty perch, 490 meters high, means that the Ritz-Carlton, Kowloon will be the world's tallest hotel, affording spectacular views for each and every guest room. The old Ritz-Carlton in Kowloon closed its doors in early January 2008 to make way for this new development. With a whopping six restaurants, an enormous ballroom, and a rooftop bar, the Ritz-Carlton, Kowloon "looks certain to become one of the icons of the global hotel industry when it opens"-- to quote Forbes Magazine. What else is new in the city? Hullett House, managed by aqua restaurant group, occupying a white stucco colonial building that was formerly the Marine Police Headquarters on Canton Road. Opened this year, the 13-suite Hullett House is billed as a "design-led heritage hotel." The other new luxury hotel on the block is the W, boasting an exquisite rooftop pool (pictured) and plenty of W signatures: a chic Living Room, Bliss Spa, and Whatever/Whenever service.
