Culinary Delights in Munich at the Bayerischer Hof

October 8, 2009| By:Mary Winston Nicklin

Bayerischer HofOktoberfest has come and gone, but you can still revel in Germany's best beer and hearty fare at the Bayerischer Hof, the fine luxury hotel in the heart of Munich. You'll find two new restaurants, the Atelier and the Garden, both designed by the Belgian art deal Axel Vervoordt in the place of the famous Garden Restaurant. After an extensive redesign, the Atelier lures as a coveted new address for seasonal haute cuisine, while the Garden is filled with light streaming through walls of windows (with a fireplace, to boot). Both menus are Mediterranean influenced. For a truly Bavarian experience, head to the sturdy vaults of the Palais Keller. Dating from the year 1425 when it was used as a salt store, the Palais Keller today serves up Bavarian delicacies, pretzels from the court bakery, and beers from the keg. Don't miss the Sunday Jazz Brunch in Palais Keller, which started on October 4 and will run through May 9, 2010.
