Valentine's Day roses

Looking to splurge on Valentine's Day? Treat your Valentine to a love-in at a luxury hotel, where you'll get spoiled rotten with red rose petals, chocolates, bubbly, and all that jazz. Here's the low-down on what $1,000 will get you:

Check into New York's Hotel Plaza Athenee-- a European-style gem situated in the Upper East Side just one block from Central Park-- with a special Valentine's Day package, priced at $825 in a Deluxe Room and $1,185 in a Classic Suite. In your luxury accommodations, you'll find an arrangement of red roses, a bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte Rose Champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries, and a La Perla gift bag including a Valentine's Day "treat" and special offers. (Book a Deluxe Balcony Suite and you'll even get a romantic dinner for two thrown in-- served on your very own private terrace.) You'll also experience a rose petal turndown and a Valentine's Day breakfast in bed. Valid February 11- February 16, 2010.

Meanwhile on the Left Coast, The London West Hollywood is offering the "All You Need is Love" package for Valentine's Day (the night of February 14). The sky's the limit with a delicious dinner served in one of the rooftop pool cabanas overlooking the City of Angels. Starting from $949, you'll get swanky suite accommodations; a romantic welcome amenity of champagne, specialty chocolates, bath basket and rose petals; a three-course Valentine's Day dinner with a bottle of Champagne; a Continental breakfast for two in Boxwood Café (or "breakfast in bed" via room service); and a 3 pm late check-out.

Across the pond in the land of romance, Milan's Carlton Hotel Baglioni is going all out with an indulgent Valentine's Day weekend (February 13-15). Priced from 900 euros in a Junior Suite, the package includes a glass of Champagne and strawberries in room upon arrival, a welcome cocktail (called "Deep Love") at Cafe Baglioni, a three-course candelight dinner at Terrazza Baglioni, a spa treatment for two people (featuring chocolate, grapes, or caviar) at Spiga 8 Spa, and American breakfast in room.
