Excellent

Excellent hotel. Easily accessible by car. Great room.

The Sacred Valley’s most complete hotel: a mountain chalet-styled retreat with panoramic Andes views from every room and every angle. On more than 8 landscaped acres (3 hectares), it breathes an air of tranquility and relaxation. Unique among Sacred Valley hotels – most of which remain isolated in the valley, offering precious little for guests to do – it contains an extraordinary, full-service “Sacred Spa”, a domed Planetarium & Observatory for stargazing in the massive Southern Hemisphere sky, and gourmet restaurant and bar. Casa Andina organizes a wide range of activities for both families and adventures, including trekking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, visits to Andean markets and Inca ruins, and ceramics, textiles, yoga and cooking classes.

The 91 inviting, spacious rooms, including villa accomodations, overlook the property’s extensive gardens and feature either private balconies or sunny sitting areas. Equidistant between Urubamba and Ollantaytambo, in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco, the hotel is perfectly positioned for easy access to the valley’s abundant attractions and incomparable Inca ruins, including world-renowned Machu Picchu. Day trips to Maras, Moray, Pisac, and Ollantaytambo are easily managed and arranged by Casa Andina.

Location Summary
The Urubamba Valley, popularly known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, lies between Cuzco and Machu Picchu, essentially connecting the two. The hotel is ideally located to explore the varied attractions and rich history of the region, of such fundamental importance to the Inca culture. Incomparable Inca ruins and other remnants of that indelible legacy lie in all directions, easily accessible from the hotel.

The fertile valley – marked by the Urubamba River and majestic Andes mountains, charming villages, and stunning examples of Inca stone masonry – is a beautiful, laid-back area attracting visitors interested in relaxing, getting outdoors, and enjoying the area’s splendid weather and lower altitude (2,700 m/8,900 ft, compared to Cuzco’s 3,400 m/11,000 ft).

The hotel location is extraordinary. Just down the road from the hotel, Ollantaytambo — with its remarkable original Inca old town, hilltop ruins and lively market — is just 15 minutes away; within a half-hour are the town of Maras , from which travelers can visit the ancient and photogenic Salineras salt mines, and the mysterious Inca ruins at Moray. The famed artisans’ market and towering Inca fortress in Pisac are just 45 minutes away.

The Sacred Valley was the Incas’ breadbasket, and it remains a major center of agriculture, producing native Andean crops including white corn, coca, potatoes, and other fruits and vegetables in verdant fields and along ancient, terraced mountain slopes. These native elements feature prominently in the hotel’s restaurant menus. And though the Sacred Valley is a low-key getaway for many, the valley also attracts those interested in varied outdoors pursuits, ranging from mountain biking and trekking to whitewater rafting and hang-gliding.
