In a unique and beautiful setting Chef, restaurateur, and hotelier Erna Kubin Clanin has created a luxurious nine-acre sanctuary blending the charm and beauty of the Provencal region of France with central California's verdant landscape. A magical diorama unfolds among the green foothills of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains, revealing The Estate by the Elderberries, featuring the ten-bedroom Chateau du Sureau, Erna's Elderberry House Restaurant, and the private two-bedroom Villa Sureau.

Wrought iron gates emblazoned with the Chateau's elegant crest open to reveal the stately 9000 square foot stucco Inn, complete with a stone turret, Parisian balconies, and shuttered windows, all on nine acres of meticulously landscaped park grounds. Named for the elderberry bushes that cover the rolling property, Chateau du Sureau was completed in 1991. Since its opening in 1991, this magical vacation, spa, and wedding destination has earned both the Forbes Five-Star and American Automobile Association's Five-Diamond awards as well as membership in the prestigious Relais & Chateaux organization.

Directions to Hotel
From Yosemite National Park: A 20 minute, sixteen mile drive from the South Gate entry to Yosemite National Park A hour, forty-five mile drive from the Yosemite Valley destinations. From Fresno, and Fresno-Yosemite International Airport: The Estate is a short 45 minute, 50 mile drive North from Fresno, via Highway 41.

San Francisco Bay Area: Aproximately 3 hour, 195 mile drive from the San Francisco/Bay area through the Central Valley and Mariposa.

Los Angeles/Southern California: A 4 hour, 265 mile drive North from the Los Angeles/Southern California area, driving over the Grape Vine and through the Central Valley on I-5 to Highway 99 and then Highway 41.

International air service is available in San Francisco and Los Angeles with daily commuter flights to and from Fresno.

The Mint Room is 470 square feet with views of the back gardens and the nature park. Situated in the West Wing - perfect for those seeking privacy - there's a king-size canopy bed, wood burning fireplace, and French Balcony. The bathroom features a separate Jacuzzi tub and shower.

Erna's Elderberry House, with its European country-estate atmosphere, is divided into three lovely dining areas, each adorned with antique French provincial furnishings, magnificent tapestries and original oil paintings. A stately terrace with a commanding view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains adds to the fabulous ambiance.
Spa Facility
Spa du Sureau's environment provides a calm retreat to relax and renew. An imaginative and innovative menu offers pampering from head to toe with a wide selection of facials, body treatments, massages, dry sauna, hydrotherapy, and the latest in aromatherapy and color therapy.
Biking, Mountain
The excitement and serenity of a mountain bike adventure, along the most scenic byways of the Sierra Nevada. The Southern Yosemite area has several bike shops with sales, rentals and specially trained guides who are happy to offer their services and expertise.

A favorite springtime activity, Zephyr White Water Expeditions is offered nearby on the Merced, Toulumne, Stanislaus and Carson Rivers.
