Nestled into Mendocino’s rugged Pacific coastline, the 48 guest rooms and suite at The Heritage House Resort manage to soothe and inspire in the very same breath. Each recently renovated room merges the timeless aura of original architectural elements with a contemporary design aesthetic and every travel luxury imaginable. Many rooms offer unobstructed ocean views, with sliding glass doors opening onto large private decks. Among the innumerable comforts, guests enjoy exquisite robes, rainfall showers, Gilchrest & Soames bath products, and a gas or wood-burning fireplace to warm the soul on chilly Northern California evenings. Just outside each room, lush gardens, a cliffside staircase descending to the rocky beach below, and woodland trails framed by cypress, eucalyptus and lavender trees invite guests to explore at their leisure. Fine dining rounds out your retreat and a full service spa will be opening in the near future.

Location Summary
Located a short drive north of Heritage House, Mendocino is a centuries-old artist community that's as charming as it is inspiring. Originally the home of a lumber mill, the first residents brought the architectural heritage of New England to their new sea-kissed home. This legacy makes Mendocino an ideal location for visitors and filmmakers alike.

Directions to Hotel
From Eureka take Highway 101 south to Willits. In Willits turn west on Highway 20 and proceed to the coast just south of Fort Bragg where you will join Highway One. Turn south on Highway One and proceed to Little River where you will find Heritage House on the Ocean side of the highway.

From San Francisco take Highway 101 north to Cloverdale. The third Cloverdale exit will give you access to Highway 128 West. Take this highway along the Navarro River through the Anderson Valley wine country and a beautiful redwood forest to the mouth of the river where you will find Highway One. Turn north and proceed to Heritage House in Little River. You will see the sign on the Ocean side of the highway.
Note Bene
Whale watching lets you explore the area from the sea. In late winter and early spring, pods of California Grey Whales begin their annual migration north. A day surrounded by these remarkable animals will be one that will leave an indelible mark on your spirit for a lifetime.

Choose to visit historic Fort Bragg or take a ride on the Skunk Train Railroad, powered by a vintage steam engine. If you are a flower lover, visit the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens.
