The Savute Elephant Camp is in the Southern area of the Chobe National Park and is one of 3 unique Belmond Safaris in Botswana. The other two are Eagle Island Lodge on a private island encircled by some of the deepest stretches of the Okavango Delta and Khwai River Lodge is nestled on the edge of a forest overlooking the vast floodplains of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve.

Come and unleash your inner explorer at Savute Elephant Lodge, where a spectacular new design immerses you in the untamed natural surroundings of the Savute region. It's here that the mysterious Savute Channel ebbs and flows seemingly at whim. Whether wet or dry, there's always a rich drama of animal antics to enjoy from the vantage point of our Lodge.

Relax in one of 12 luxurious tented rooms, where an artisan crafted four-poster bed takes center stage. Recline on a canopied daybed on your spacious terrace, watching majestic beasts saunter by as you help yourself to refreshment from the cocktail fridge.

Join your fellow guests in the airy lounge, a convivial space for reading, playing chess or absorbing the views. Swim in the serene pool, which blends into the surroundings, or treat yourself to an African-inspired therapy in our beautiful Spa tent. Head to our new viewing hide to enjoy a front-row seat of the action as elephants, hyenas and leopards gather at the watering hole for their daily drink.

Night brings a new magic. After the afternoon's game drive, gather round the campfire to experience a unique Boma dining experience. Feast on African specialties as our tuneful staff choir sings heartwarming traditional songs. The Lodge has been reimagined with huge love and respect for the environment, with sustainable features ranging from a state-of-the-art solar grid system and low-energy heat pumps to bamboo decking. So you can be confident of leaving a light footprint.

All tented rooms are housed on raised wooden platforms, offering spectacular panoramic views, shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. The expansive private decks are furnished with a huge daybed as well as two comfortable armchairs and a side table - perfect for viewing wildlife, an afternoon nap or for enjoying a dinner in complete privacy. The interiors are luxuriously appointed with en suite bathrooms and a large outdoor shower, in commune with nature. The four-poster bed as well as a lounging sofa, are outward facing with uninterrupted views onto passing wildlife.

Guests are able to enjoy the best of being in the middle of a true wilderness environment, in a lodge designed with exemplary eco-friendly and sustainable practices in mind, and still enjoying the finer luxuries in life such as eco-friendly air-conditioning in the tented rooms. Encapsulating its heritage and surroundings, the design features includes chandeliers inspired by the local Botswana clay pots, others by the intriguing local pods and plants. The traditional walking sticks of the San inspired the bedposts and the huge daybed on the private outdoor deck was created with African carved head rests in mind.
