La Mirande

Hotel La Mirande Avignon was built on the remains of a medieval cardinal's palace with superb 18th century interiors throughout, antique furniture and old master paintings. Almost all the bedrooms have a romantic view on a quiet cobbled square or the lavish garden with the Popes' Palace stood magnificently in the background. Hotel La Mirande Avignon carries the traces of all the chapters of its history. Its recent restoration favored and completed the 18th century elements, bringing back the splendor of an aristocratic residence of that era. Until 1990 when it turned into a hotel, it was house to one of the leading families of Avignon. One of them, a major of Avignon in the second half of the 19th century and intimate friend of the emperor Napoleon III. The gourmet restaurant offers a terrace and garden for open air dining in the summer. Open fire places add to the ambiance in the winter. The old period kitchen of the famous cooking school is also the venue of the original guest table where a fixed menu is prepared in front of 12 guests sharing the same table.
