Perched on a cliff, the Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa was originally built as a monastery in the late 17th century. Transformed into a luxury hotel in 1924, the property completed a major renovation that retained the building's historical integrity, and reopened in 2012. The hotel provides a sanctuary lost in time, where the scent of rosemary and lemon fills the air.
Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa has 20 guest rooms and suites, each named after herbs from the gardens the nuns once used to make their medicines. Featuring vaulted ceilings, the original structures of the nuns' rooms and refectory were preserved and linked together. Featuring designer interiors by a local Neopolitan designer, accommodations have Italian antiques, views of the sea, and large bathrooms with dark wood, Jerusalem stone, and walk-in showers.
Offering chef-created cuisine, guests can select from formal or alfresco Mediterranean gastronomic experiences. Ristorante Il Refettorio has a terrace suspended over the Gulf of Salerno, as well as an indoor setting with vaulted ceilings. Italian wines are paired with every meal, and during the day visitors can choose to dine amidst the gardens or by the pool. There is also a bar library area, with signature cocktails like the Red Basil Daiquiri for guests to enjoy an aperitif at sunset or after dinner.
The spa incorporates the building's historic structure with Italian heritage, including vaulted ceilings and the aromatic oils of Santa Maria Novella with lemon, bergamot, rosemary, lavender, and sweet orange. There is a Thermal Suite where the Italian heritage of bathing is honored with various inter-connecting warm rooms, domed aromatic steam room, crushed ice fountain, Rock sauna, Hydro Pool, and Emotion Showers. While the Spa Suite has a private spa within a spa concept that includes a relaxation lounge and garden terrace. Plus, guests can enjoy treatments in pergolas outside in the Treatment Garden.
For relaxation, there are four levels of gardens throughout the property overlooking the sea with lounge areas, as well as an infinity pool.
