Distrito Capital
Another stunning hotel from Mexico’s celebrated Grupo Habita, the Distrito Capital is a modern masterpiece in the heart of bustling Mexico City. The hotel name translates literally to “The Capital District,” appropriate for a property situated right in the thick of things in the capital’s Santa Fe neighbourhood, a cutting-edge skyscraper quarter home to Mexico’s largest mall.
Creative minimalism is the name of the game at the Distrito Capital, whose surprising interiors were artfully crafted by Parisian designer Joseph Dirand. The aesthetic and infrastructural focus is on public spaces that encourage social interaction, such as a lounge-friendly pool area, several terraces and a film projection room. Other facilities include a library, business centre, conference centre, solarium and gym. Upstairs, Enrique Olvera’s fifth-storey restaurant and bar is set to become one of Mexico City’s gastronomic hotspots, offering dazzling panoramic views over the capital below.
The hotel’s 17 rooms and 13 suites, for their part, are more like chic art spaces than overnight accommodations, full of vintage furnishings by Charlotte Perriand and other renowned 20th century designers. Each room comes with a leisure area, Acqua di Parma amenities, wireless Internet, dock station and 24-hour room service, while the suites come with an additional living room, bath tub and, in the case of the presidential suite, kitchenette and private gym.
