Africa has rolled out the red carpet for St. Regis with the debut of the St. Regis Mauritius Resort, making this the 30th St. Regis hotel in the world.
We hear the resort, which sits on the southwestern tip of Mauritius, has both natural beach and Le Morne Brabant Mountain views. There are 172 guest rooms and suites, ranging from 700 to 2,300 square feet, all with terraces and Indian Ocean views.A-listers and glitterati alike will flip over the St. Regis Villa, which has its own private entrance, four bedrooms with private pools and gardens, entertainment and dining areas, an infinity pool, a bar and a private spa treatment room.
Signature restaurant Simply India serves up fine dining experiences overseen by Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar. Six other distinct dining experiences range from Le Manoir Dining Room, serving French and Mauritian cuisine, to Floating Market, a modern Asian dining experience, and The Boathouse Bar & Grill for casual oceanfront dining. The 1904 Bar serves rum cocktails and vintage whiskeys.A 22,730-square-foot Iridium Spa beckons travelers to take part in the full-service salon, relaxation lounge, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms. Nice Touch: The 12 treatment rooms have ocean views.

At Five Star Alliance, we are constantly adding new luxury hotels to our site. We are delighted to have recently added Lux* Belle Mare and Lux* Maldives to our collection. LUX* Island Resorts is a collection of premium hotels in the Indian Ocean offering guests the opportunity to celebrate island life and enjoy light living.
Lux* Belle Mare is located in quaint seaside village of Belle Mare on the east coast of Mauritius. This luxury beach hotel on the Indian Ocean features traditionally thatched huts, sparkling white sand beaches, and the Lux* Me spa. Take a dip in one of the island’s largest swimming pools and finish out your day with supper at Indouchine, where you can watch the moon shimmer over the ocean. Sounds like paradise to us!
Lux* Maldives is the only settlement on the island of Dhidhoofinolhu in South Ari Atoll, and offers real insight into unspoiled island living. Snorkel or whale shark spot in the lagoon, or take a break from the beach at one of two pools or at the spa. Whether suspended over the water or scattered along the beach, every room, suite and villa is designed to make the most of its surroundings.
The hard part is deciding whether to head to Mauritius or the Maldives. We have a feeling you'll be happy no matter which Lux* property you stay at.

We've seen our fair share of over-the-top spa treatments (diamond, rubies, oh my!), but this one might just take the cake. The Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita has just announced a lavish spa treatment for the festive season: the new UMO 24 Karat Gold Facial. Apparently gold has natural youth-enhancing properties (who knew?) that helps beautify the skin and defy the natural ageing process. The facial uses 100% natural ingredients to give you a golden glow while you're hanging out in paradise. (Just check out the photos of the island resort.) Here's the skinny on the facial:
Derived from an ancient Japanese soybean health food, the Gamma PGA ingredient used by the UMO facial is ten times more hydrating than the skin’s own natural acids, while also having far more elasticity than collagen. The Gamma PGA absorbs the gold and when applied to the face using UMO’s ultrasonic nano mist technology – several times smaller than water droplets – both the Gamma PGA and the gold are able to pass through the surface of the skin to restore youthful benefits to the deepest layers.
Needless to say, the UMO 24 Karat Gold Facial doesn't come cheap; it costs 250 euros a pop. Available from December 15, 2011.
