Cool Pools: Baccarat Hotel New York

Even the pool at Baccarat Hotel New York is fabulous. Crystal sconces and mirrors line the walls. A luminous wall of glass allows light to cascade between the pool and fitness area. The daybeds are inspired by the cabanas of the Cote d'Azur. The frescoed Japanese paper-covered walls have been hand-painted in India ink to evoke the forested region where Baccarat crystal is made. Renowned French artist Franccois Houtin painted the entire space from memory, using a traditional calligrapher's brush to recreate the trees that are essential to the creation of Baccarat crystal in the company factory's wood-burning ovens.
