Suite Relief: The Fairmont San Francisco Renovates Penthouse for $20 Million

From the terrace in the Penthouse of the Fairmont San Francisco- sprawling across the entire 8th floor of the hotel's historic main building- the views are unparalleled: all of glittering San Francisco at your feet. The Penthouse was built in the roaring 20s and reflects the grandeur of the era, encompassing a billiard room that's reminiscent of the Alhambra with its beautiful Moorish tiles, an impressive art collection, a two-storey circular library with a rotunda featuring a celestial map in gold leaf on its ceiling. Over the years the suite has played host to dozens of celebs and the world's elite. The Fairmont recently announced a huge restoration project led by Champalimaud which will be complete in mid September.
