Gingerbread Extravaganza at Stein Eriksen Lodge (Harry Potter’s Hogwarts!)

December 6, 2010| By:Mary Winston Nicklin

Stein Eriksen LodgePark City's Stein Eriksen Lodge knows how to get primped for the holidays. The lobby gets a 32-foot tree that's decked with lavish ornaments, and the pastry chef assembles a team to make an awe-inspiring gingerbread creation. One year they concocted an Empire State Building out of gingerbread; another year, they made a nine-foot long and five-foot tall Thomas the Train. This year's marvel? Straight out of Harry Potter- the fictional Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Made with 400 pounds of gingerbread and 80 pounds of icing, the gingerbread Hogwarts required 150 hours of creation time by Executive Pastry Chef Ann Giles Sweisford and her team. Planning to ski Park City's Deer Valley Resort this winter? The Stein Eriksen Lodge has a sweet package deal called "Bronze, Stay & Ski" that includes lift tickets, lodging, and a bountiful breakfast from $279 per person. (Note: not available over Christmas.)
