Fans of the Thompson Hotel Group have been anxiously awaiting word on the new Thompson Toronto. Would it open in 2009? Winter 2010? Now word is out: The sexy new property will welcome guests in June to the "eclectic arts and design neighborhood of King West Village." Joining the likes of the Hollywood Roosevelt, 60 Thompson, Smyth, and the Sax Chicago, the Thompson Toronto will feature contemporary interiors by Studio Gaia with floor-to-ceiling windows framing impressive views of the city. From the official website: "Its three dining facilities cater to all tastes: a modern incarnation of a traditional Diner which will be open 24 hours; upscale Italian Cuisine by Scarpetta, the acclaimed restaurant by renowned Chef Scott Conant; and Wabora Sushi. Other hotel amenities are a pool, a state of the art screening room, an exclusive lounge/club, a private rooftop bar and event space." Top on everyone's list? The hot scene on the roof, which has Toronto socialites in a tizzy about securing VIP keys.
