Welcome to Washington's landmark residence of choice while visiting the nation's capital. The Hay-Adams is as close as anyone can get to staying at the White House, short of being invited by the President. Originally designed in the 1920's as a residential hotel, the Hay-Adams has always preserved the ambiance of a distinguished private home on Lafayette Square. This classic hotel takes its name from earlier residents of its site: John Hay, private assistant to President Abraham Lincoln and later secretary of state, and Henry Adams, an acclaimed author and descendant of U.S. Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Like their homes, the Hotel has long been a favorite gathering place in the nation's capital. The 145-room hotel features 20 suites, some with views of Lafayette Park and the White House. All guest rooms combine heritage and luxury with contemporary comfort and technology.

Located in Lafayette Square and just walking distance from many of Washington D.C.'s landmarks, the Hay-Adams is the perfect place for both leisure and business travelers alike. Want to go to the National Monuments? The National Mall is just beyond the White House, about 4 blocks from the hotel. The personalized service, elegant luxury, culinary excellence and one-of-a-kind amenities have been chosen by heads of state, international business leaders and the social elite. The Hay-Adams is a destination unique to Washington. Unique in all the world.

The Hay-Adams offers 145 guestrooms, including 20 suites, all of them recently renovated and featuring views of the White House, Lafayette Square or St. John's Church, the "Church of the Presidents". Lavish decor including ornamental fireplaces, intricately carved plaster ceilings and balconies adorn selected rooms. Soft tailored upholstery combined with luxurious linens make these guest quarters among the most elegant in the world.

The Hay-Adams Hotel won the prestigious "Leading Hotels of the World Gold Award" in 2006.

Five Star Alliance Client Reviews - The Hay-Adams Hotel
Candace R., Westport, CT. June, 2007
"The Hay-Adams was a wonderful experience. We had a view of the White House, the decoration of the room was beautiful. The service at the Hay-Adams was impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay."
Susan A., Leeds, United Kingdom. June, 2007
"Hotel was excellent and was in a perfect location with views of the White House from the more expensive rooms and the roof terrace. The room was as expected. Great breakfasts, although waiters were a little abrupt but restaurant manager was first class. All other services in the hotel were as expected. When I had a complaint regarding an item of laundry that came back damaged, they reimbursed me the full GBP value and were extremely apologetic. The only draw back is the bar in a kind of basement, which is a bit dingy, but overall a great stay. Also, the presence of three Secret Service agents on our floor was both reassuring and disturbing - if you know what I mean!"
Erica, Chicago, IL. January, 2007
"I loved the special arrival gift of chocolates - what a clever presentation! The views from exterior facing rooms are just wonderful, the only place I will stay in DC!"
Flora. January, 2007
"The room and service are outstanding."
Yvette R., Miami, FL. November, 2006
"We were a guest at the Hay-Adams and we were there for 4 nights. I am so glad we booked thru Five-Star Alliance it was everything they said it would be. We received star treatment. What a hotel! Breathtaking views of the White House. Great dinning, excellent location. We were even invited to use the house car when available to meet our engagement while in town. Definitely I will recommend the web-site of Five Star Alliance and the Hay-Adams is a must when visiting DC. "
