The O'Brien Family Maintained Residence In Dromoland Until 1962 When Due To Difficult Circumstances The Sixteenth Baron Was Financially Compelled To Sell The Castle And Three Hundred And Seventy Five Acres. The New Owner Bernard McDonaghof Of West Virginia Converted The Castle Into A Luxury Hotel. In 1986 The Property Was Sold To The Present Owners Who Have Invested $7 Million On The Continued Refurbishment Of Dromoland Castle.
