In 1875, the Palace Hotel debuted as the world's largest and most luxurious hotel, towering eight stories over San Francisco. "The room was good but not exceptional. The view was at the back on a court. Not really a super view. Hotel was ok and the location is not bad. It's a small walk from the Union Square and in front of the hotel the tram goes to Embarcaderro, Alcatrez and fisherman's warf. Service was more then ok however not exceptional but sufficient. The breakfast and service (buffet) is outstanding but to pricey. I would recommend this hotel to others. It's worth the money for what you are getting. (Nice room etc)."

Over the years, the Garden Court has become an important part of San Francisco history. With its incredible architecture, dome stained glass ceiling and Austrian crystal chandeliers, The Garden Court became the site for some of the nation's most prestigious events. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson hosted two luncheons in support of the Versailles Treaty which ended World War I. In 1945, the official banquet honoring the opening session of the United Nations was held in The Garden Court. Indeed, the Garden Court holds many memories for many people.
