The Villa is princely and magnificent and rightly so, since it was built towards the end of the 19th Century by a member of the Hohenzollern family, actually by Kaiser William's brother-in-law, who lived there until the end of the Thirties. The lovely facade of the two-story building rounds out slightly into two side wings with large windows. The tiled sloping roof is dotted with many chimneys. All around there is an explosion of greenery, lawns, trees, bushes and flowers. A door attendant on the threshold of the elegant entrance ushers people in with a smile: nothing at all is left to chance. Entering the luminous Hall, a stunning view of the lake that can be seen sparkling on the other side of the great window is sure to leave our visitor breathless. On the left, there's the elegant and well known restaurant, while on the right there's the Principe Bar, where Mario, the Barman, is ready to offer you a glass of the best champagne or prepare your favourite cocktail. The enormous garden-terrace compels guests magnetically in its direction. At its centre, in fact, a great octagonal fountain delimited by two, glass covered gazebos that seem two circumflex accents acts as the main focus of attention. The view is absolutely breathtaking: the blue water surrounded by mountains that in turn are reflected back, like the side-scenes of a stage, catches the guest's eye. The white city of Lugano built on the windingshores of the lake lies just below. When the weather is fine, it's impossible not to look forward to a lunch or dinner in front of so much beauty, maybe getting a taste of the famous risotto by Chef Dario Ranza or enjoying the great bouquet of a wine chosen from the prestigious menu of the Principe Leopoldo Restaurant. The splendour of the Belle Epoque that this historical villa witnessed can still be perceived in its luxurious and welcoming halls, in its marble fireplaces, in the rich curtains that create a very soft and quiet atmosphere.
