Location Summary
Vulcano is situated on the southern most point of the Aeolian islands, just 5 minutes by hydrofoil from Lipari, the capital island, and 45 minutes from 'mainland' Sicily. The hotel is unique as it is the only point on the whole archipelago which enjoys views of the entire island group. As the island's name suggests, there is a Vulcano, visible from the hotel. Here, there are numerous excursions and trekking tours available. The island is also home to a natural mud pool and thermal spa baths, situated in the centre, plus beauty bays of volcanic black sandy beaches and clear waters. Excursions can easily by taken to the nearby islands: the largest and lively island of Lipari, the picturesque Panarea and Salina, and the volcanic Stromboli, from where there are night excursions of the island's 'volcanic trail' fro! m lava can be seen trickling down the island's Volcano. Trips can also be taken to the wild, unspoiled islands of Alicudi and Filicudi. Many travellers coming to the Aeolian islands often tie in a trip to 'mainland' Sicily, especially the areas of Taormina and Catania.

Directions to Hotel
Catania Fontane Rosse is the closest airport to the islands. From the airport, car or bus transport can be taken to Milazzo port (journey time approx 1.5 hours) from where regular hydrofoils and ferries leave for the Aoelian islands. In high season, there are also hydrofoil connections from Naples (journey time approx.6 hours) and Palermo (journey time approx 6 hours). There are also all-year ferry connections from Naples (journey time approx 15 hours). Helicopter transfers are also available.
