Dromoland Castle Is One Of Ireland's Most Famous Baronial Castles Dating From The 16th Century. The Castle Is The Ancestrial Seat Of The Direct Descendants Of High King Brian Boru. A Subtle Blend Of Old World Elegance And Modern Day Comforts Create An Atmosphere Conductive To Relaxation And Pleasures. Set In A Natural Amphitheatre Scooped Out In Bygone Days By The Action Of A Glacier Ice Sheet Dromoland Castle Has A Spectacular History Going Back For Many Centuries. Dromoland Castle Is A Very Large Early Eighteenth Century Gothic Revival Castlellated Multitowered Aslar Castle. Dromoland Was The Former Home Of The O'Briens Family One Of The Great Noble Irish Clans Who At Times Ruled Southern Ireland. The O'Brien Family Maintained Residence In Dromoland Until 1962 When Due To Difficult Circumstances The Sixteenth Baron Was Financially Compelled To Sell The Castle And Three Hundred And Seventy Five Acres. The New Owner Bernard McDonaghof Of West Virginia Converted The Castle Into A Luxury Hotel. In 1986 The Property Was Sold To The Present Owners Who Have Invested $7 Million On The Continued Refurbishment Of Dromoland Castle.
