Located on a private peninsula near Florianopolis on Brazil's south coast, Ponta dos Ganchos is one of the country's most exclusive beach resorts. A ridge of Atlantic rainforest runs down to the water, where three tiny islands horseshoe around a sandy bay. A thatched restaurant idles ten feet from the beach, but paddle across to one of the islands and you find a bar that's illuminated by torches at night. You are in the middle of nowhere here, and Ponta dos Ganchos delivers the dream: idyllic landscapes of emerald sea and forest, contemporary interiors in 20 beautiful Bungalows (some with private plunge pools, saunas and jacuzzis) and service that's second to none (all meals, including breakfast, are served at any hour of the day). Ponta dos Ganchos is one of the country's most exclusive beach resorts. The restaurant is right in front of the beach, and walking across a little bridge and you find a gazebo that's illuminated by torches at night on an Island. You are in the middle of nowhere here, and Ponta dos Ganchos has idyllic landscapes of emerald sea and forest, contemporary interiors in 20 beautiful bungalows(some with private plunge pools, saunas and jacuzzis) and an amazing personalized service (all meals, including breakfast, are served at any hour of the day). There's an indoor pool, tenniscourt, gym and even a private cinema. Snorkelling, diving (including tuition), canoeing, sailing and boat trips are also on offer.

Recommended Rooms
There are twenty Bungalows scattered over the side of the hill, all with imperious views of Ganchos Bay and the Emerald Coast. There are four different types of Bungalows. The smaller Luxo rooms are enormous and come with an open fire in the sitting room, walk-in wardrobes, excellent bathrooms with showers (but no bathtub) and walls of glass that open onto huge decked balconies, all of which look out to sea. They're rustic in style but feature all mod cons: flat screen TVs, CD and DVD players, minibars, air conditioning, wi-fi internet connection.
In the Super Luxo rooms one finds a sauna and a Jacuzzi out on the balcony; Villas and Special Villa also get small private sea-water pools and gardens as well as two showers and Jacuzzi.
The decor in all is simple and uncluttered: big beds, fine Egyptian cotton, neutral colours, comfy sofas and oodles of light.

Once passing through the Ganchos do Meio village and the entrance to Palmas beach, take the first road to the left and you have arrived.
