Opened in 1923, this impressive stucco-fashioned edifice is Rio's most traditional and luxurious hotel. This landmark was designed by the French architect Joseph Gire who was inspired by two hotels, the Negresco in Nice and the Carlton in Cannes. Since opening the hotel has had only two owners, the Guinle family of Rio de Janeiro and from 1989, Orient-Express Hotels, Trains & Cruises.

"The Copacabana Palace is an elegant hotel on one of the nicest beaches in Rio de Janeiro. Our room was tastefully decorated with windows that opened and the view was of pool and the beach. The pool was a delightful place to spend the day if you didn't want to be on the beach and if you did want the beach there were chairs, umbrellas, towels and smiling attendants waiting for you. We felt that the staff and service personnel were first class. We would definitely go back again."

Situated in a prime location in front of he world famous Copacabana beach. Only minutes away from the Santos Dumont Airport, the city's major tourist attractions, one of the city's main malls Rio Sul), the major business centre and easily accessible from the International Airport, at Copacabana Palace you will be just where you were supposed to be.
