Very Good

Very good business hotel. Good for sightseeing with access to public transportation. Awesome vibe.

After undergoing a 20-month, $180 million renovation, the InterContinental New York Barclay combines sophisticated style and contemporary design, while staying true to its original Federalist style. Built in 1926, the revitalization included restoration of the hotel’s original Cross & Cross design, along with upgrades such as a new lobby leading to a Carrara marble grand staircase, and the addition of Hudson River School landscape works of art. The Federalist design motif can be seen throughout the property, including in eagle medallion doorplates at the doors of each room, custom crown moldings, coffered ceilings, and millwork.

Offering more than 700 guest rooms and suites, the revitalized accommodations combine modern and Federalist design details, along with newly selected works of art that pay tribute to The Barclay’s 1926 legacy. Plus, expanded bathrooms and upgraded technology.

The Barclay restaurant offers a seasonal tapas menu crafted with locally sourced ingredients. The Gin Parlour, inspired by Dutch and English gin bars of the 1920s, offers a countless array of selective brands and varieties, perfect for every palate.

The Barclay marries its 20th century past with 21st century convenience to offer 15,000 square feet of premier event space, efficiently reorganized on the second floor. There are two ballrooms—Grand and Empire, both with 17-foot coffered ceilings, chandeliers, and custom crown moldings.
