A majestic location overlooking Lake Windermere and the Langdale Fells in the English Lake District is a perfect setting for Holbeck Ghyll. Celebrated as one of the Lake District's finest country house hotels, Holbeck Ghyll is an oasis of calm, surrounded by many acres of woodland and natural beauty. Built in the 19th Century, Holbeck Ghyll was bought in 1888 by Lord Lonsdale, one of the richest men in the country, to use as his hunting lodge. Sink into deep and luxurious armchairs in the elegant and relaxing lounges which have breathtaking views over the lawns to Lake Windermere. Breathe in the pure Lake District air, be exhilarated by the beautiful surroundings; revitalized by the sport and spa facilities and treatments offered by Holbeck Ghyll; you'll soon feel wonderfully rejuvenated. The oak panelled entrance hall with its inglenook fireplace in which a log fire burns most of the year, provides for a warm welcome.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Pride of Britain, the hotel received the "Cumbria Tourist Board Hotel of the Year, 2000 - 2001," and the "Life Magazine: Lake District Hotel of the Year 1999 - 2000." The hotel is a Michelin Star winner and a Andrew Harper Grand Award Winner 2000.
