The Metropolitan in London is among the capital's most enduring design phenomena, a hotel that combines cool looks and cosseting service with a contemporary mindset, putting it squarely on the map of travellers seeking to be at the centre of the action. From floor-to-ceiling windows, look out over a glittering skyline, comfortable in the knowledge you are standing right where it matters - on Park Lane, with the city's best bar and restaurant in the very same building. It is your private haven at the heart of the metropolis, a place to retreat to when the need for quiet comes upon you. The hotel's sleek yet serene urban image combines soft whites, pear-wood panelling, suede upholstery and pure Egyptian cottons. Colours are subtle, featuring cosseting mauves and warm plum. Carefully selected pieces of antique Asian furniture introduce soft, Eastern accents. This is the work of Keith Hobbs, regarded as a true innovator in hotel design for the modern generation. Natural light floods the spaces, while walls of glass draw you into the city. It is an uplifting perspective, proof of simplicity's power, and the chic appeal of understatement. MET BAR - When it first opened in 1997, this sultry night time haunt became a byword for cool, answering a sophisticated need for privacy and energy, in a space reserved for hotel guests and members only. Interiors are clad in decadent red leathers, waiters in custom-made Armani. Bar staff - called 'mixologists' at the Met - create bespoke Martinis while headline DJs spin London's lounge sounds.
Spa Facility
The Metropolitan understands its guests are on high-octane schedules. To counteract the pressure, we have opened a COMO Shambhala Urban Escape at the hotel, dedicated to your continued wellbeing.
In addition to a gym, we have two treatment rooms where you can indulge in Asian-inspired, holistic therapies originally developed at our sister resort, COMO Shambhala Retreat at Parrot Cay.
Treatments include shiatsu, reiki, reflexology and Thai massage as well as Environ facials and COMO Shambhala PURIFY facials, all delivered by experienced health professionals. In addition, we can arrange for private instruction in yoga or personal trainers.
Recommended Rooms
Guests may want to consider the 19 Metropolitan Apartments - ideal for those seeking a temporary base, a home from home in London. They are located adjacent to the hotel, just off Park Lane.
They include 22 and 23 Hertford Street, and Brick Street. Each apartment is a minimum of 1100 square feet.
The apartments share many of the hotel's amenities, including 24 hour room service, maid service, access to COMO Shambhala Urban Escape (charges may apply) and interactive entertainment systems. Interiors feature contemporary lounges, sleek pine and black granite kitchens, large double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Broadband Internet access is also supplied.
Banquets & Meetings
The Metropolitan's reputation as a London hotspot has placed it among the top addresses for private and business events, from cocktail parties to private lunches, press days, weddings, fashion shows and interviews.
The Metropolitan Event Spaces all combine the formality of a meeting room with cool, contemporary art and the hotel's light-filled style.
All four of the individually designed rooms offer the latest technical facilities and complimentary WiFi throughout.
Fine Dining on Site
Nobu at the Metropolitan is more than a scene-stealing restaurant; it is an essential experience for any serious gourmand.
Breakfast at the Metropolitan is taken in The White Room, a calm space in which to begin the day with a deliciously fresh menu.
The Metropolitan's 24-hour room service includes Nobu specialities as well as late-night comfort options, like burgers and club sandwiches.
Afternoon De-Light is an afternoon tea with a modern twist.
