Location Summary
Forming part of the Whitsundays, so named by Captain James Cook in 1770, InterContinental Hayman Island offers a front-row seat to the Great Barrier Reef and a world of leisure and adventure. The Whitsundays have long been internationally recognized as one of the world's most beautiful stretches of tropical coastline in the world. The 74 islands – 66 of which are uninhabited – dot the calm waters of the Coral Sea, sheltered from the Pacific Ocean by the Great Barrier Reef. Despite offering total privacy and a pristine environment, One&Only Hayman Island is just a few hours from the lively and cosmopolitan dining, arts, culture and entertainment centers of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. One&Only Hayman Island is also easily accessible from major cities around the world.
Directions to Hotel
Great Barrier Reef Airport receives direct flights from all of Australia’s major cities, with onward connections to Asia, UK/Europe, North and South America and Africa. Transfer to One&Only Hayman Island is by luxury launch, or if preferred, by helicopter or seaplane. From time to time, a seaplane may replace a launch transfer at One&Only Hayman Island's discretion. The most convenient way to travel to and from Hayman Island is via Great Barrier Reef Airport located on nearby Hamilton Island, although flights into Proserpine and Mackay offer alternatives. Several international flights connect directly to Great Barrier Reef Airport through Australia's international airports in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
