The K Club
Set amongst 550 acres of Kildare countryside by the River Liffey, The K Club, is an elegantly restored country house which opened in 1991 as a luxurious hotel and country club. This long standing member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts offers the very best of pampering, leisure, and golf facilities and is only 30 minutes from Dublin. Built in 1832, on the banks of the River Liffey, the original house was modeled on a French Chateau and still retains many of its original architectural features, art work and antiques. The mature estate covers an impressive 550 acres and also features a stunning Victorian walled garden and fishing on the River Liffey, which runs through the resort. The resident ghillees offer fly fishing on the river and horse riding and clay pigeon shooting are also available along with a range of different country pursuits. The K Club is home to two Championship Golf Courses- The Palmer Ryder Cup Course and the Palmer Designed Smurfit Course. The K Club is just 40 minutes from Dublin and Dublin international airport. The K Club is set outside the village of Straffan which is close to the bigger Kildare towns of Celbridge and Maynooth. The Gaelic for Straffan is "Sruthan," meaning "The Stream," and the village is renowned for being quaint old English style. The K Club is near many local attractions including The Strafffan Steam Museum and The Straffan Butterfly Farm.

Directions from Dublin City: Distance: 17 miles/27km - 30 minutes approximately. There are two routes from Dublin city - the N4/M4 or the N7. Directions for N7 route. From the N7 (Naas Road) take Straffan exit. After approximately 4 miles / 7km - over Liffey Bridge - Kildare Hotel gates on left. Satellite Navigation Co-Ordinates: 53.308056- Latitude, -6.625050- Longitude Directions to The Kildare Hotel, Spa & Country Club From Dublin Airport. Distance: 23 miles/37km - 30 minutes approximately. N4/M4. Take the M1 from the Dublin Airport and follow the signs for the M50 to the Westlink Toll Bridge. Immediately after coming off toll bridge, exit at junction 7 and head right to N4- Galway/Sligo & The West. Continue on this road past the Lucan Spa! Hotel and on to the M4 Motorway. Exit Motorway at Naas/Maynooth signpost and a junction take left for Naas. Continue for approximately 5 miles/8km - cross Clane Road and follow sign for Straffan Past Barberstown Castle and into Straffan Village - continue through village - entrance to Hotel ½ mile/800 m on right hand side. Fine Dining On Site
Dining at The K Club presents something of a culinary conundrum as there are so many great dining outlets to choose from.
Comprising of over 20,000 square feet, the Health and Leisure Centre includes a fully equipped gym, weight room, and a Pilates studio.
Families are well catered for and children will love the kids club which offers arts and crafts, nature walks, and games. Children will also enjoy using the swimming pool and junior golf clinics which run during the summer. A baby sitting service is available upon request.
The Pool Hall includes a 16.5 meter resistance pool with hydrotherapy jets, Jacuzzi, experience showers, a relaxation area over looking the outdoor hot tub, and luxurious changing facilities with individual saunas and steam rooms.

Bicycles available for guest use. The location of The K Club makes it ideal for cycling, with over 550 acres of countryside.
A purpose built shooting layout has been erected for the guests of The K Club a short distance from the resort. There you can avail of the different disciplines on offer plus the expert tuition from trappers. 20 and 12 gauge shotguns are provided to suit both ladies and gents.
The K Club stocks Orvis rods, flies and lines for tarpon, bonefish and permit in 8 weight and 10 weight for both right and left handed anglers.

Horseback riding is available on nearby Abbeyfield farm, set on over 200 acres of picturesque Kildare countryside.

The K Club is home to many important Irish works and even has a room dedicated to the Irish Expressionist painter, J. B Yeats. The Yeats Room features many of Yeats' important paintings and is a riot of color and texture.
