The InterContinental Melbourne The RialtoHead down under to check out the Southern Star, the cool new addition to Melbourne's skyline (and the largest observation wheel in the southern hemisphere), and you can check into luxury at the Rialto Hotel. After an AU$60 million renovation of the mythic Rialto, InterContinental has opened its first hotel in Melbourne. Dating from 1891, the heritage-listed property is one of the city's best examples of 19th century Gothic architecture. (A nine-storey glass atrium connects the two historic buildings: Rialto and Winfield.) The InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto joins the likes of InterContinental Sydney, InterContinental Paris Le Grand and InterContinental The Willard Washington D.C., all landmark properties. Situated on Collins Street in Melbourne's financial district, The Rialto retains historic features such as stained glass windows and wrought iron ballustrades. The best part of all? The rooftop spa, gym, and pool. Don't miss the world-famous Rialto Towers Observation Deck just next door, offering panoramic views of the city.
