In this edition of Featured Journeys: Go West in the USA, we explore a multi-destination itinerary to Park City, Utah, Jackson, Wyoming, and Missoula, Montana. From mountain resorts to ultra-luxe ranches (glamping anyone?), we're highlighting a few of our top picks for where to stay when you want to head west. 

Park City, Utah

Well known for skiing, Park City is a year-round destination in Western Utah. In the 1870s, a silver boom brought thousands to the city, when more than 30 saloons lined the streets. During the 1960s the first ski lift was built, and visitors from around the world visited in 2002 when Park City hosted the Olympics. Jackson, Wyoming

Close to the south entrance of Grand Teton National Park, Jackson is a popular destination for hiking and climbing. Originally a summer destinaton for Native American tribes hunting game, and hunters seeking beaver pelts, the area was established as a settlement in the 1890s. Missoula, Montana

Four Seasons Jackson Hole

Guests of the resort can choose from a variety of lodging options, including guest rooms, suites, and the ultra-luxe two-to-five bedrrom private residences. Within the private residences there are plush living rooms with gas fireplaces, seating for several people, and double sofa beds. There are solid wood doors with inlaid windows that open to private terraces or balconies furnished with teak tables and chairs, plus dining rooms and full kitchens equipped with dishwashers. Off of the entrances there are washers and dryers, and bathrooms have dual vanities, deep soaking tubs, and glass-enclosed showers. Overlooking the Teton Range, the 676-square-foot Grand Teton Suite at Amangani is the resort's largest suite. Featuring contemporary Western decor, the luxurious suite has a living room with a metal gas-lit fireplace, flat-screen TV with a sound system, personal bar, woven cowhide chairs with faux-wolf fabric, and a window-side daybed. Wyoming Inn

Ever wonder how Jackon, WY's Rusty Parrot Lodge And Spa came by its unusual name? Well, we can't tell you. Because we don't know. Mind you, there's many an exaggerated campfire tale that claims to reveal the secret behind the family-run 30-room lodge's moniker, but the only way to really find out. You'll have to ask the owner, Ron Harrison. He can usually be found behind the front desk (with a unrusted parrot) and he'll tell you the real story. Let us know what you find out!
