Happy Birthday to Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains! The historical ski resort had its first winter season in 1814-15. 

Today, St. Moritz is one of the world's most famous holiday resorts. Chic, elegant and exclusive with a cosmopolitan ambiance, it is located 1,856 metres above sea level in the middle of the Upper Engadin lake landscape. But in September 1864 Swiss hotelier Johannes Badrutt was wondering how to fill his rooms during the winter. He made a bet with four English guests that if they came back at Christmas and didn't like it, he'd pay their travel costs.  

The guests liked their winter stay, and the area fast became a favorite playground for the rich and famous.
