Pousada do Porto Palacio do Freixo Hotel is housed in a palace which has been classified as a National Monument since 1910, was by architect David Sinclair and decorated by architect James Mitchell. The building is located on the banks of the Douro River, named after the famous Wine Region in Portugal, which dates back to Roman times. In the main building of the Pousada - the old Palace - you can find the restaurant, bar, and social rooms. In the other building, the old Harmony grinding mills, you can find the bedrooms, some of which hold a magnificent view over the river.
