It goes without saying that your honeymoon should fall under the category of the "Best Trips Ever". For Christmas we received a honeymoon destination book filled with hundreds of amazing places all over the world and after 15 minutes of looking through it my wife to be had decided on Turtle Island for our honeymoon spot. One thing to keep in mind while planning; if you plan to fly business class book your trip early. There are only 3 flights a week from Los Angeles and 3 from Honolulu.
Turtle Island only allows 14 couples at a time and you can be as involved or uninvolved as you want to be. To go on about all the activities would take forever but taking a look at what they have to offer. The absolute "musts" are the sunrise horseback ride (but sign up with the dock lady as soon as you get there, it fills up fast), diving, lomi lomi massage, and the private beaches. The thing that makes Turtle Island so great is the staff, when you first get there you have no idea of how great it's going to be and by the time you leave everyone feels like family. Needless to say, we cried when we left.
To help the turtle population the island buys turtles from would be poachers, pays them market value for the turtle, and then auctions them off to the guests. The winning bidder gets to paint whatever message they like on the back of the turtle in marine paint. This paint soaks in to the shell of the turtle and remains for about 8 years, making the turtle useless to any poachers and extending the life of that turtle.
We hope you get a chance to enjoy the magic of this island, it truly will rank among one of your "Best Trips Ever". To say this place was amazing would be an understatement.
