"The service at the hotel was exceptional. Bellmen, waiters, the assistant manager, and bartender all seemed to remember who we were and went out of their way to say hello or ask if they could assist us whenever we encountered them. Our room was a deluxe villa and next time I would select a room overlooking the gardens instead. We were right on the street and were woken each morning at 8am by city crews with leaf blowers or trucks working in the city park between our villa and the ocean. The web site suggested that the villas directly accessed the beach area. The gardens are beautiful, the dining room lovely, and the food excellent. Best buy would be a less expensive room overlooking gardens or pool. We would go back."

"The staff was friendly and we had a very comfortable stay. La Valencia is beautiful Spanish Style Hotel with well kept gardens and comfortable lobby lounge which features a live piano player in the evening. The location couldn't be better because it is in the center of La Jolla and you can walk to Ellen Scripps Browning Park and watch the seals, swim or snorkel, or go shopping at the many small shops in the area.
There are a variety of good restaurants in the neighborhood including the restaurants at La Valencia."

"Wonderful. Fantastic. Very memorable. Charming hotel. We were so pleasantly surprised that we received a free upgrade on our room. Thank you!!!! The view was incredible - especialy with a balcony!! Didn't use the restaurant, but it all looked great. Lobby had music in the evening - wonderful. Pool was wonderful robes awesome. Loved receiving 2 newspapers in the am. Front desk personnel were warm and welcoming."
