The village of C?reste is situated high in the Luberon mountains at the heart of the Great Luberon National Park. The village is crossed by the Via Domitia, which was built by the Romans to link Rome to Spain. The area offers much in the way of historical interest as well as activities including hiking, horse riding, cycling and rock climbing. The St. Michel Observatory is 15 kilometres away, from where there are magnificent views over Provence to Haute Provence, Mont Ventoux and the Verdon and Oppedette gorges. Dating from the 17th century, the house has been restored very sympathetically, fully respecting the original style, including stone tiled or oak floors, high beamed ceilings, stone fireplaces and exposed stone walls. The comfortably furnished living/dining room has a 17th century stone pillar, and opens to the covered terrace with views over the countryside. Amenities include a sauna, satellite television, DVD, stereo and internet access. The rooms on the main floor of the house open to a large covered terrace furnished for dining outdoors, and with views over the garden, and the Luberon. Within the garden is a swimming pool (15 x 5m, unchlorinated water), a boules court, badminton court, swings and a ping pong table. DISTANCES: Villag center is 2kms, Apt is 18kms, Bonnieux is 32kms, Gordes is 39kms, Aix en Provence is 73kms and Avignon is 71kms. This house sleeps 12 people. The security deposit is ?2,200. A credit card guarantee with clients signature is held on file for any additional charges that maybe incurred. A two week minimum stay is normally required in July and August. One week stays may be subject to a surcharge.
