It's hard to believe that this tranquil oasis is just hours from bustling cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles and Reno. And though the pristine environment of the Yosemite Valley is passionately protected, the Park does offer a host of year-round conveniences and guest services so that visitors can make the most of their experience while still observing a respect for the land.

A favorite for swimmers of all ages, the Merced River at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley offers soft, sandy beaches--perfect for spending an afternoon sunning and splashing. Tuolumne Meadows and the Park's High Sierra Camps also have some wonderful, secluded swimming areas.
